2 countries, 4 small towns, 5 cities & 12 days Part VI - Granada

Granada is where all the activities happen. It's home to the Alhambra. Where we catch the Flamenco dances in the caves and had the loveliest Lebanon meal.

Granada is divided into the Arabic, Jewish and Christian quarters and each quarter has their distinct architecture and local shops.

We especially enjoyed exploring the Albaycin with its myriad of small alleys and Arabic shops. Not to mention once you get atop the hill, a glorious view of the Alhambra itself. There are plenty of Arabic restaurants here which also gave us a break from the overdose of Spanish Tapas.

Alhambra

If you plan to visit Alhambra, do remember to book you ticket online way before before your visit. The date we wanted to go to Alhambra was actually sold out online when we tried to book it. In the end after several google searches, it was recommended on the internet to buy the Granada Card which includes the tickets to the Alhambra. Even so, you'd have to reserved your time slot to the Alhambra and be sure to arrive before the allotted time.

The good thing about the Granada Card is that it includes bus tickets around Granada and visit to other sights in the city. Further information about the card can be found here.

Within the Alhambra, the Moorish architecture is the key highlight. The carvings on the castle are truly intricate. It should take you about 2-3 hours to explore the whole place.

Flamenco at Cueva La Rocio

If you want to catch a Flamenco, it is best to reserve a seat. We were lucky that there's some seats left (at a premium) to catch the Flamenco show on the day itself at Cueva La Rocio. The ticket entitles you to a seat and drink at the performance. The performance is very lively and intense. It is no wonder that Flamenco are so world renowned.

Los Italianos

Do not miss this Ice cream parlor. When we walked past the shop on our way to the Arabic Quarter, the shop was packed with locals. Our recommendation? Try everything. The gelato here is that good.
