The Man who Mistook His Wife for a Hat: and other clinical tales by Oliver Sacks

I know you might think how would reading clinical stories be a good read...But once you get past the un-pronounceable medical terms and descriptions, you’ll find this book an interesting read. The way Oliver Sacks describes each of his cases, coupled with his own insights, gave each of his patients an identity, a self, a story of an individual that goes beyond the affliction they suffer. Some sad, some optimistic, some funny, each case is definitely interesting.

Here are some of my favorite cases:

  • The Lost Mariner (Chapter 2)

  • Hands (Chapter 5)

  • Rebecca (Chapter 21)

  • The Autist Artist (Chapter 24)
